CELEBRATE RECOVERY

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program to minister to anyone with "hurts, habits, or hang-ups." The origins of Celebrate Recovery date back to 1991 at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. Celebrate Recovery ministries have spread across the United States and around the world. ( Visit the Celebrate Recovery website)

While many 12-step programs are using a "higher power" with no clear definition, Celebrate Recovery has Jesus Christ at its core. Paralleling the
12-steps in Celebrate Recovery are 8 Principles based on the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-10). The secularized 12-steps have been given biblical meaning again with distinct Bible verses joining them. The serenity prayer has been expanded from the first four lines, often used by secular recovery groups, to include the complete prayer as written by Reinhold Niebuhr.

The organization of Celebrate Recovery allows for safe and anonymous recovery groups to focus on whatever hurts, habits, or hang-ups are in need of ministry and fellowship. Thus, the Celebrate Recovery ministry often includes groups for anger management, financial difficulties, depression, chemical addictions, and sex addictions. The specific "small groups" and "step studies" are separated by gender, allowing for individuals to more closely relate to others in the group.

Reminders of changed lives...

Pflugerville has grown at a tremendous pace. The population has increased and so has the number of people in need of ministry. First Baptist Church Pflugerville is not unique in stepping up to the challenge of creating a safe place of ministry for folks with need of recovery. Churches in the surrounding areas have already begun their missions, with Celebrate Recovery ministries at a variety of churches in Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, College Station, Temple, San Marcos, Cedar Park, and more.

Celebrate Recovery is not just growing in churches, but also in recovery houses and rescue missions, in prisons, and elsewhere. New Mexico and California each recognized Celebrate Recovery as a state-qualified recovery solution. Indeed, Travis County's Counseling & Education Services (TCCES) has informally allowed persons to attend Celebrate Recovery ministries as an alternative to other recovery programs.

Please pray for the ministry. We need both men and women. Chemical dependancy, anger management, depression, sex addiction, and other needs are all seeking ministry participants.  Again, participation is anonymous.  Participants may visit from FBCP, another church, another Celebrate Recovery ministry, or from the household where there is need for compassion and fellowship.  Visit as often as you like.

Please pray and contact the church office (512-251-3052) for location information.
