Aguacate Revival Mission Trip June 2005
Report by Elias Garcia
A mission trip was organized to do a weekend Revival Service in Mexico. Five of us planned to go, Brother Eliseo Garcia and Jose Luis Casas from Genesis Baptist Church in Harlingen, Texas; Brother Elias and Maria Garcia from First Baptist Church Pflugerville, Texas; and Brother Baltazar Gaona from Mexico City. Eliseo, Jose Luis, Maria, and Elias met in Harlingen on the 2nd of June. We drove to Matamoros and from there took the bus to Tempoal where we meet Brother Baltazar at 06:00 am on the 3rd of June. We then drove in Baltazar’s car to Aguacate.
In Aguacate, we split up, Baltazar and Jose Luis were to conduct Friday evening Revival Services in Aguacate while Brother Eliseo, Elias, Ruben (member of the Aguacate church), and Brother Martin Garcia Aquino went on a three and a half hour drive to Templo Bautista Filadelfia, Barrio Pitzoteyo, MP. De Matlapa, San Luis Potosi.
Brother Martin is the pastor of Templo Bautista Filadelfia. His church hosted us while we were there. We had a revival service that night. It was a great service; God’s Spirit moved and six people accepted the Lord as their personal Savior. We also distributed some balloons, bubbles, Hot Wheel cars, and a few dolls to the children. We then left that night, Friday night, and drove back to Aguacate. We arrived at Aguacate at 01:30 am Saturday morning.
Brother Baltazar, Jose Luis, and Maria, who had stayed in Aguacate, conducted revival services there on Friday night. The Spirit of the Lord moved and one person accepted the Lord.
Saturday, we individually packed the black beans that were purchased to be distributed to the church members. We conducted some meetings with the church leadership, made some ministerial visits, and made some prospect visits. We distributed cooking oil and black beans to the church members.
The revival service started at 06:00 pm Saturday. Brother Eliseo preached. The Holy Spirit started to move and slowly people started to come forward. Some asked for prayer for their illnesses, a couple came forward requesting their son be dedicated to the Lord, some came forward to rededicate their lives to the Lord, and some came forward to accept the Lord as their personal savior. The invitation continued and people kept coming forward. Eight people accepted the Lord and nine rededicated their lives to the Lord. The Holy Spirit had answered the church’s three months of prayer for revival.
During the Sunday Morning Service, two more people accepted the Lord with three more accepting the Lord during the home visits. A total of 20 New Believers and 9 rededications, God is WONDERFUL!
We headed home Sunday afternoon joyful and full of God’s wonderful Love. We had done our small part in accomplishing God’s Will.

Brother Martin’s showed us the rusty roof of their church. It leaks when it rains, but they have no funds to replace it. Cost to replace it is approximately $1,500 USD.

From inside the church, you can see where the roof has rusted through.

Our mission trip was in June, so it was very hot. Brother Martin asked if we wanted to take a bath. He took us to where they bathe.
